November 2006: With online Christmas shopping predicted to jump by a massive 40% this season (IMRG), SECPay is offering e-retailers a back-up payment processing service.
The decision comes on the back of recent customer data analysis which found that a large percentage of retailers that join SECPay in the New Year do so due to difficulties processing payments during the festive season. IMRG has predicted that 25 million shoppers will spend over £7 billion online in the run-up toChristmas
Chris Dipple, Chief Technology Officer at SECPay says: "As another record online Christmas fast approaches retailers must ensure that their sites can cope with the increase in traffic."
He continues: "Retailers simply cannot afford to miss out on this year's promised festive bonanza. Retailers have largely eliminated fulfilment and delivery problems but have not addressed how their sites stand-up to peak volumes of traffic."
The SECPay service offers e-retailers extra peace of mind through a low cost payment processing back-up service to existing payment gateways. For just £100 the company is offering to provide online traders with a full back-up payment service until 31st January 2007.
Chris Dipple comments: "Last Christmas we received a number of distress calls from retailers who had lost the ability to process payments. This year we are pre-empting the situation by offering retailers the ability to set-up a back-up service with SECPay."
