9 May 2006 - Leading independent internet payment service, SECPay, today announces the launch of a new service, SECGuard, developed to help merchants better protect themselves from online fraud.
SECGuard will enable SECPay merchants to better manage their exposure to fraud when taking payments online, thanks to a flexible transaction screening process at the heart of the package.
With SECGuard, all SECPay merchants will be able to choose the level of fraud protection they receive online and alter the criteria, specifically to suit their own business models. This means they can define and determine the type of buying behaviour which they personally would consider risk heavy or unusual and therefore indicative of criminal behaviour. Merchants will therefore be able to choose which transactions they want to accept and process, those they wish to reject and those they want to quarantine, pending a manual inspection or verification.
Chris Dipple, Chief Technology Officer at SECPay, said: “SECGuard is the only truly flexible fraud protection offer on the market. It enables merchants to tailor their fraud protection to suit their individual business needs so that both they, and their customers, can have added peace of mind that their online transactions are being processed as securely as possible.”
By using SECGuard the need for manual inspection of transactions should be lowered whilst automated screening for ‘high risk’ transactions will be increased. The pricing is simple and straightforward with a one off set-up cost of Ł50 plus a monthly charge that mirrors the payment model SECPay already operates with its merchants.
Dipple said: “Fraud is a very real threat and concern for businesses trading online. At SECPay we have been at the forefront of the online payments industry when it comes to tackling fraud. SECGuard is a market leading product which really responds to the merchants need for bespoke fraud protection services. We want our merchants, and their customers, to feel as secure as possible when taking payments over the internet.”
SECPay is also introducing a dedicated merchant extranet in 2006 and was the first online payment processor to integrate with Ukash - a new voucher led system which enables people to purchase goods online without using a credit or debit card. The company aims to become the leading online payment provider in the SME marketplace.
